Protecting our precious greenbelt & safeguarding our environment

I might be biased, but I believe Meriden is the most beautiful constituency in the country! Our communities are blessed with awe-inspiring landscapes and precious natural environments deserves protection, alongside measures which improve both water and air quality and prevent flooding. That is why since being elected in 2019, I have been a vocal opponent of rampant development and a champion of the wildlife and ecosystems that inhabit our green spaces.

I have fearlessly confronted developers who seek to encroach upon our cherished green belt land. By standing firm against excessive construction, we have successfully thwarted developments across the constituency, for example the proposed Motorway Service Area in Catherine de Barnes. Whilst I believe the need to build more homes should remain a national priority, we must do so only on brown-field land and ensure we protect our precious green spaces from unscrupulous developers.

I have also staunchly defended the community in Balsall Common and surrounding areas against the relentless actions of HS2 who have time and again ignored the local priorities. HS2 have sadly shown a disregard for families and local communities; through debates in Parliament and frank conversations with HS2, I have, and will continue to, defend our area from increased pollution and disturbance.
