I'm delighted to see production resuming at Jaguar Land Rover a cornerstone of our local economy and a symbol of British innovation at its best.
JLR isn't just a global brand it's part of the fabric of our community and core to the DNA of the West Midlands. It supports thousands of skilled jobs in Meriden and Solihull East, sustains a wide network of suppliers and small businesses, and leads the way in automotive innovation.
During the recent shutdown, I worked closely with colleagues in Parliament to campaign for strong Government support for the entire wider supply chain that depends on its success. From parts manufacturers to logistics firms, many livelihoods have been impacted, and securing that support was critical.
This is a positive step forward not just Meriden and Solihull East, but for the future of British manufacturing.
We must always back British industry, and support it during the times it needs our help, ensuring the continued creation of high quality jobs for generations to come. In the coming days and weeks I’ll be speaking to supply chain businesses to ensure that they are not just surviving, but once again thriving too.
