Recently I paid a visit to Solihull Academy this week, a thriving alternative provision school right here in our borough.
The reason for the visit was to see first-hand the model the academy is using and how it is focused on delivering the best possible outcomes for its pupils. What really stood out was the clear commitment to making sure every young person has a positive destination to move on to when they leave the academy, whether that’s further education, training or employment.
As Shadow Education Minister, it’s important for me to understand what works on the ground, especially for pupils who need a different approach to thrive. It was fantastic to see how Solihull Academy combines high expectations, strong support and a clear sense of purpose to help young people succeed.
A huge thank you to the staff and pupils for welcoming me and for the incredible work you do every day. Schools like this show what is possible when the right support and vision are in place.
