VE Day Ceremony in Parliament

Today Saqib attended the inaugural Turning of the Page ceremony in Parliament to remember those from within Parliament who made the ultimate sacrifice in the Second World War.

The Turning of the Page ceremony is a symbolic gathering, where the Speaker of the House of Commons turns the page of the book of Remembrance, a book containing the names of those who had served in Parliament, as staff or Members who lost their lives in the conflict. Each day from now another page will be turned over.

Saqib commented, "It was a privilege to attend this ceremony and to reflect on not only those who lost their lives from within Parliament, but all who died for our freedom."
