I am proud to join colleagues from across Parliament in signing a letter to the Prime Minister calling for greater support for Remembrance Day parades in our communities.
These events are a cornerstone of our national life, bringing people together to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served in our Armed Forces. They must never be put at risk by unnecessary financial burdens.
Organisers have faced increasing costs linked to road closures and traffic management. For smaller communities in particular, these costs can be the difference between holding a parade or not.
That’s why we are urging the Government to take practical steps to ![]()
Waive fees associated with Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders for Remembrance Day events
Provide dedicated support for traffic management costs
By removing these barriers, we can ensure that communities across the country continue to mark Remembrance Day with the dignity and respect it deserves.
We owe it to those who served, and to future generations, to keep these important traditions alive.
Lest we forget.
