It was a pleasure to visit Nailcote Hall and meet with owner Rick Cressman to hear first-hand about the significant challenges HS2 construction is creating for local businesses.
Nailcote Hall is a valued local employer and a well-known venue that contributes greatly to our local economy and community. However, like many businesses affected by HS2, it is facing ongoing disruption that is having a serious financial impact.
I was pleased to discuss Rick's petition calling on the Government to urgently review compensation schemes for businesses suffering financial harm as a result of HS2 construction and to establish a fair and timely support scheme for those affected.
While major infrastructure projects can bring long-term benefits, it is only right that businesses bearing the burden of construction impacts are properly supported. Local businesses should not be left struggling because of disruption that is beyond their control.
I will continue to raise these concerns and press for a fair outcome for businesses across Meriden and Solihull East that are being affected by HS2.
