Today, alongside neighbouring MP, Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst, I've written to the new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, setting out the priorities that matter most to people across Solihull.
The new Government has a responsibility to show it understands the needs of communities like ours. That's why we're seeking clear assurances that itwill back the issues residents have consistently told us matter most.
For me, just some of those priorities are protecting our Green Belt from inappropriate development, putting more police on our streets, delivering an A&E at Solihull Hospital, helping more young people into work instead of welfare, and making home ownership a reality for the next generation.
I wish the Prime Minister every success in his new role, but success will be measured by whether his Government delivers for places like Meriden and Solihull East.
The West Midlands matters. Solihull matters. I’ll make sure Andy Burnham never forgets it
