On Friday, I met with senior figures from Solihull Hospital alongside neighbouring MP Neil Shastri-Hurst , as part of our ongoing campaign to improve urgent care provision for our community.
At our meeting, we discussed in detail the current resources at the hospital and the steps needed to deliver enhanced urgent care services. This builds on our recent engagement with the Birmingham & Solihull Integrated Care Board and the adjournment debate in Parliament on local emergency service provision.
As the ICB undergoes transformative changes, its funding restructuring must take into account the opportunities at Solihull Hospital for enhanced urgent care provisions. The hospital has the foundations to be a trailblazer for innovation and efficiency.
Since my election in 2019 I have made returning healthcare resources to Meriden and Solihull East one of my core priorities and to date we have had success with having seen the opening of a new Locality Hub in December 2023, an Urgent Treatment Centre in Summer 2023, an Elective Hub in November 2024 and a new Community Diagnostic Centre in North Solihull opening just last month, but the battle is not over yet.
I will continue to fight for the healthcare resources our community needs and deserves, including seeing emergency services resources returned to Solihull Hospital.
