Last Friday, I had the privilege of visiting Solihull Fire Station and meeting with some of the incredible individuals who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.
I was incredibly impressed by the team’s commitment to innovation and evidence-based approaches to public safety. The demonstration of their specialist equipment and lifesaving kits made clear just how vital proper investment is for the fire service to continue delivering exceptional service.
Solihull Fire Station itself is a high-performing station, boasting some of the best equipment in the region and consistently hitting target response times of under five minutes. This rapid response capability is vital for effective firefighting and saving lives.
I also heard about the work at Bickenhill, which hosts a technical rescue station. This facility plays a crucial role in responding to major incidents, including those involving heavy vehicles and large-scale rescue operations.
Thank you to the Fire and Rescue Service for the kind invitation to visit.
