In the latest government reshuffle, Saqib was promoted to parliamentary under secretary of state in the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology. This new role is Saqib’s first as a Minister and will see him work with the government on a range of subjects, including tech and AI.
With this move, Saqib leaves behind his former post of Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Department of Culture, Media, and Sport, which he took on in September 2022. He also steps off the Foreign Affairs Select Committee and leaves his role as Vice Chairman of the Conservative Party for Business.
Commenting on the news, Saqib said:
“I am honoured to become a Minister in the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology. As a nation, we are on the brink of huge innovation, and I am so excited by the possibilities and opportunities that lie ahead for us.”
