I have written to the Head of Planning at Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, to register my formal objection to the outline planning application on the land off Windmill Lane in Berkswell.
The current iteration of the planning application demonstrates complete disregard for the impact of the development on Berkswell Windmill and its surrounding area.
Berkswell Windmill is an iconic Grade II star listed heritage site, which perfectly encapsulates the architecture and industry that makes our region so special. As we celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2026, it must be our priority to ensure that this cherished site is protected from intrusive development projects.
Most crucially, the approval of this planning application would set a dangerous precedent for the erosion of Green Belt and sites of historical significance in the future. This cannot be allowed to happen.
A special note of thanks to our local Conservative councillors who work so hard to protect our heritage and our greenbelt.
