Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting the Meriden Warm Hub, one of Cadent’s incredible Centres for Warmth, right here in our constituency.
These hubs play a vital role in supporting local residents through the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, offering not just a warm space, but essential services like food support, benefit application help, job clubs, and carbon monoxide safety advice.
Cadent, the UK’s largest gas distribution network, has already invested over £4.3 million in this initiative, working with more than 300 community centres across the country and I am pleased to see the impact is having here in Meriden.
Their aim is to expand to 375 Centres for Warmth by 2026 and the impact so far has been remarkable, delivering over 254,000 services and generating £154 million in social value.
It was inspiring to see first-hand how this partnership is helping those in vulnerable situations stay warm, safe, and connected. I even had the opportunity to take part in some pilates!
Thank you to the Hub team for inviting me along and to Meriden Parish Council for hosting the warm hub!
