It was a pleasure to visit Ordinary Magic at Coleshill Heath Primary and meet the team following on from Founder Katie Washbourne’s well-deserved recognition at the Solihull Civic Honours 2026, where she was given the VCFSE Organisational Leadership Award.
What began as a small grassroots project has grown into a trusted organisation supporting the emotional wellbeing of children, young people, and families across our community.
From play therapy and school reintegration support to SEND advocacy, bereavement support, and community wellbeing programmes, Ordinary Magic is making a real difference to the lives of thousands of local families.
I was particularly impressed by their compassionate, needs-led approach and the dedication of their multi-skilled team of therapists, wellbeing practitioners, family workers, and SEND specialists. Their work alongside schools, local authorities, health services, and community partners is helping ensure that children and families can access support before they reach crisis point.
Organisations like Ordinary Magic show the very best of our community spirit in Meriden and Solihull East, practical support, compassion, and a commitment to helping every child and family thrive.
Thank you to the whole team for the incredible work you do every day.
