I have written to Solihull Council to formally object to the reserved matters application for up to 300 houses on land at Kenilworth Road and Kixley Lane on Golden End Farm in Knowle. Thank you to Cllr Edward Fitter, Cllr Dave Pinwell and Yvonne Clements for working with me on this vital issue.
This scheme is contrary to key planning policies intended to safeguard the Green Belt and proposes the irreversible loss of arable farmland that should not be considered grey belt land or suitable for development. This scheme harmfully extends a built-up area into the countryside and does not fit with or complement the rural landscape and townscape of Knowle whilst seeking to displace wildlife on a site of rich biodiversity.
I share the concerns of my constituents near to the site about the already overcapacity road network and public services in Knowle and the significant impact a development of this scale will have on local infrastructure.
There is no justification for this scheme, especially considering the scale of proposed development across Meriden and Solihull East.
