Thank you to everyone who braved the rain to attend last night’s residents meeting the hall was packed, showing just how concerned and engaged our community is about the future of Hampton and the surrounding area.
The proposed development on Old Station Road has raised significant concerns not only from residents, but also from the Parish Council and planning committee who have formally objected to the application on several grounds.
We also spoke about the broader planning context: A national target of 1.5 million homes, based on a formula tied to affordability and land value, is hitting Solihull hard with housing targets being increased by 63%. This comes at a time when neighbouring Birmingham’s housing targets are being cut by a third. This is unacceptable.
The grey belt designation remains unclear and concerning and that’s why I am calling on the Government to outline a clear definition of ‘greybelt’ and you can support this petition too here: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/725558
We finished the meeting with a Q&A, and the overall sentiment was clear: residents are overwhelmingly against the Old Station Road development and deeply concerned about the direction of planning across the borough.
I will continue to keep pressure up and make sure Hampton in Arden’s voice is heard loud and clear.
Thank you again to all those who came along.
