It was great to welcome Richard Holden MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Transport, to Eric Lyons Butchers in Balsall Common, alongside local Councillor Heather Delaney.
It was a real pleasure to meet with Nick Lyons, the owner, and hear firsthand about his experience of running a successful local business.
Businesses like Eric Lyons vital for our communities and having ran a familyowned, small business myself I understand how important they are in creating jobs, supporting local suppliers and giving our high streets their unique character. They’re often rooted in the area for generations, and they deserve policies that help them thrive rather than hold them back.
We discussed the opportunities and challenges facing small businesses locally, and how better public transport links and practical support can make a real difference for places like Balsall Common and across Meriden and Solihull East.
