Last night, Saqib attended a beacon lighting service, as part of the 80th anniversary of VE Day celebrations, at Elmdon Church. A true community event and a fitting tribute to all those who gave their lives.
Saqib commented, "After the ceremony, it was a privilege to be able to talk to Frank Spencer, a 96 year old veteran who spent 32 years in the British Army in the Parachute Regiment.
During his time in the Armed Forces, Frank was shot twice, had his parachute entangled and was blown up in a jeep. A truly heroic individual.
At the age of 92, Frank continued in his sky diving exploits, completing a charity sky dive to raise funds for the Lily Mae Foundation, which having had the opportunity to do so myself, is no walk in the park.
Thank you to Elmdon Church for the kind invitation to attend and thank you to Frank for taking the time to talk with me."
