Following Saqib's letter to the Attorney General for England and Wales, it has been confirmed by the Solicitor General that the sentence will be referred to the Court of Appeal under the Unduly Lenient Sentence Scheme.
Saqib commented "I welcome the Solicitor General’s decision to refer the case and it is now down to the Court of Appeal to determine as to whether this sentence is in fact too lenient and in that case to issue a sentence that is proportionate to his crimes. I sincerely hope this is the course of action the Court chooses to proceed with.
