It was a real pleasure to visit Winnr Sports CIC again and to see first hand the incredible impact they’re having on young people across Meriden and Solihull East.
Winnr is a community led organisation, funded by Solihull Council and local partners. I was delighted to meet the new Programme Director, Gemma Ashington, and hear about her vision for building on the brilliant work already taking place.
From the Holiday Activities and Food programme, to women’s casual football, community games, youth work for 12–18 year olds, and early crime prevention with 9–11 year olds, Winnr is creating safe spaces, positive role models and real opportunities. Their partnerships with schools, families, local organisations and funders like Sported and Barclays are making a tangible difference.
It was encouraging to see how the club continues to grow, innovate and reach more young people while staying rooted in the community.
A huge thank you to the whole team and everyone involved. Organisations like this are vital to building healthier, safer and more ambitious futures for our young people ![]()
