It was great to visit Forged Gym in Balsall Common alongside Richard Holden MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Transport, and local Councillor Heather Delaney.
Forged Gym is the first gym in Balsall Common, opening its doors in November last year, and it’s a brilliant example of what local enterprise can achieve. The owners, Molly and Steve, have been hands-on from the very start, from setting up the building to even painting the logo themselves, and it’s encouraging to see that membership is already on target.
The gym offers day, monthly and yearly passes, with no joining or cancellation fees, making fitness accessible and flexible for the whole community. I was particularly impressed by the custom-built app, which gives members everything they need in one place, news, meet the team, club perks and a digital membership card. As an unmanned gym, Forged has kept costs low while still delivering a high, quality service for local people.
Small, independent businesses like this are vital to our local economy. They invest in their communities, respond to local needs, and help places like Balsall Common continue to thrive. It was a pleasure to meet the team behind Forged Gym and to see first-hand the positive impact they’re already having. ![]()
