It was great to visit Arden Academy on Friday as part of their Democracy Week and speak with students about careers in politics.
It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout for the Arden Futures session, with so many students keen to learn more about how people get involved in public life.
I shared a bit about my own journey from accountancy into Parliament and my role as Conservative Shadow Minister for Education, and how there is no single route into politics.
A big thank you to the staff and students at Arden for the warm welcome. It’s always encouraging to meet so many thoughtful young people interested in how our democracy works and in the opportunities available to them.
I really am truly lucky to represent some amazing young people who I know will go on to do some wonderful things. All you can hope to do is help and guide them on the way.
To parents and carers, I whole heartedly encourage you to get involved with future career talks at Arden, your experiences and insights are most wanted!
